The Majestic Eagle

Proverbs 30:18-19 (NKJV)

18 There are three things which are too wonderful for me,

Yes, four which I do not understand:

19 The way of an eagle in the air,

The way of a serpent on a rock,

The way of a ship in the midst of the sea,

And the way of a man with a virgin.

The Way of the Eagle

FACTS:

-Average weight of an eagle is 31 pounds

-Eagles maintain their domain of about 5-6 sq. miles

-Eagles mate for life – A change only takes place in the death of one.

-Eagles normally spend 4 to 6 hours in flight except during child rearing.

-Eagles fly between 100-200 mph.

-Eagles use the same nest year after year making only minor changes.

-Nests are usually 6 to 10 thousand feet up in a cleft of a rock.

-Eagles eyesight is 8 times more powerful than mans – spotting something 2 miles away

-Average wingspan is 6 to 10 feet.

-Usually spend 1 hour each day preening! Running each feather through their mouth – like steam cleaning.

The Stirring of the Eagle

Deuteronomy 32:10-13 (NKJV)

10 “He found him in a desert land

And in the wasteland, a howling wilderness;

He encircled him, He instructed him,

He kept him as the apple of His eye.

11 As an eagle stirs up its nest,

Hovers over its young,

Spreading out its wings, taking them up,

Carrying them on its wings,

12 So the Lord alone led him,

And there was no foreign god with him.

13 “He made him ride in the heights of the earth,

That he might eat the produce of the fields;

He made him draw honey from the rock,

And oil from the flinty rock;

Analogy: As the eagle stirs up the nest of its young. The Lord also stirs us at times.

We were made to soar!

We were made to soar!

The Source of Food For an Eagle

Proverbs 4:20-22 (NKJV)

20 My son, give attention to my words;

Incline your ear to my sayings.

21 Do not let them depart from your eyes;

Keep them in the midst of your heart;

22 For they are life to those who find them,

And health to all their flesh.

Matthew 4:4 (NKJV)

4 But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’ ”

-An eagle is a picky eater! He does not rely on what he finds – He finds what he wants!

We need to feed our spirit more with good food!

Eagles may live up to 60 years

The Strength of the Eagle in Storms

Isaiah 40:29-30 (NKJV)

29 He gives power to the weak,

And to those who have no might He increases strength.

30 Even the youths shall faint and be weary,

And the young men shall utterly fall,

31 But those who wait on the Lord

Shall renew their strength;

They shall mount up with wings like eagles,
They shall run and not be weary,
They shall walk and not faint.

-An eagle, unlike other birds, does not flap its wings in flight, but he knows he cannot rely on his own strength. His strength is a gift from God.

-As a storm approaches, an eagle waits for the winds-as the winds come, the eagle launches in flight and allows the wind to take it above the storm!

Psalms 91:4 (NKJV)

4 He shall cover you with His feathers,

And under His wings you shall take refuge;

His truth shall be your shield and buckler.

The Soldier’s Psalms

Psalms 91:1-16 (NKJV)

1 He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High

Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

2 I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress;

My God, in Him I will trust.”

3 Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler

And from the perilous pestilence.

4 He shall cover you with His feathers,

And under His wings you shall take refuge;

His truth shall be your shield and buckler.

5 You shall not be afraid of the terror by night,

Nor of the arrow that flies by day,

6 Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness,

Nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday.

7 A thousand may fall at your side,

And ten thousand at your right hand;

But it shall not come near you.

8 Only with your eyes shall you look,

And see the reward of the wicked.

9 Because you have made the Lord, who is my refuge,

Even the Most High, your dwelling place,

10 No evil shall befall you,

Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling;

11 For He shall give His angels charge over you,

To keep you in all your ways.

12 In their hands they shall bear you up,

Lest you dash your foot against a stone.

13 You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra,

The young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot.

14 “Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him;

I will set him on high, because he has known My name.

15 He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him;

I will be with him in trouble;

I will deliver him and honor him.

16With long life I will satisfy him,

And show him My salvation.”

We dwell in the secret place of the Most High!
