Jesus (The Five Love Languages)
Mark 10:45 (NKJV)
45 For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to
give His life a ransom for many.”
Are the “Love Languages” Biblical?
Jesus used all five Love Languages and undoubtedly, He was a master at
matching them with people!
Acts of Service
John 13:12-15 (NKJV)
12 So when He had washed their feet, taken His garments, and sat down
again, He said to them, “Do you know what I have done to you?
13 You call Me Teacher and Lord, and you say well, for so I am.
14 If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought
to wash one another’s feet.
15 For I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to
you.
17 If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them.
Jesus was a true servant.
Quality Time
Mark 3:14 (NKJV)
14 Then He appointed twelve, that they might be with Him and that He
might send them out to preach,
Luke 19:5 (NKJV)
5 And when Jesus came to the place, He looked up and saw him, and said
to him, “Zacchaeus, make haste and come down, for today I must stay at
your house.”
Jesus invested “time” in people.
Words of Affirmation
Luke 7:28 (NKJV)
28 For I say to you, among those born of women there is not a greater
prophet than John the Baptist; but he who is least in the kingdom of God is
greater than he.”
John 1:47-50 (NKJV)
47 Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward Him, and said of him, “Behold, an
Israelite indeed, in whom is no deceit!”
48 Nathanael said to Him, “How do You know me?”
Jesus answered and said to him, “Before Philip called you, when you were
under the fig tree, I saw you.”
49 Nathanael answered and said to Him, “Rabbi, You are the Son of God!
You are the King of Israel!”
50 Jesus answered and said to him, “Because I said to you, ‘I saw you
under the fig tree,’ do you believe? You will see greater things than these.”
Matthew 16:18 (NKJV)
18 And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My
church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.
One word of affirmation can change a person’s life and destiny!
Giving of Gifts
Luke 9:13-17 (NKJV)
13 But He said to them, “You give them something to eat.”
And they said, “We have no more than five loaves and two fish, unless we
go and buy food for all these people.”
14 For there were about five thousand men.
Then He said to His disciples, “Make them sit down in groups of fifty.”
15 And they did so, and made them all sit down.
16 Then He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven,
He blessed and broke them, and gave them to the disciples to set before
the multitude.
17 So they all ate and were filled, and twelve baskets of the leftover
fragments were taken up by them.
John 9:1 (NKJV)
1 Now as Jesus passed by, He saw a man who was blind from birth.
6 When He had said these things, He spat on the ground and made clay
with the saliva; and He anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay.
7 And He said to him, “Go, wash in the pool of Siloam” (which is translated,
Sent). So he went and washed, and came back seeing.
John 3:16 (NKJV)
16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that
whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
Perhaps one of Jesus’s favorites!
Physical Touch
Mark 1:40 (NKJV)
40 Now a leper came to Him, imploring Him, kneeling down to Him and
saying to Him, “If You are willing, You can make me clean.”
42 As soon as He had spoken, immediately the leprosy left him, and he
was cleansed.
Mark 10:13-16 (NKJV)
13 Then they brought little children to Him, that He might touch them; but
the disciples rebuked those who brought them.
14 But when Jesus saw it, He was greatly displeased and said to them,
“Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the
kingdom of God.
15 Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God
as a little child will by no means enter it.”
16 And He took them up in His arms, laid His hands on them, and blessed
them.
Luke 8:43-46 (NKJV)
43 Now a woman, having a flow of blood for twelve years, who had spent
all her livelihood on physicians and could not be healed by any,
44 came from behind and touched the border of His garment. And
immediately her flow of blood stopped.
45 And Jesus said, “Who touched Me?”
When all denied it, Peter and those with him said, “Master, the multitudes
throng and press You, and You say, ‘Who touched Me?’ ”
46 But Jesus said, “Somebody touched Me, for I perceived power going out
from Me.”
Jesus was “Touchable”!
Caution:
The Love Languages are not about getting people to love us! It’s about
people knowing they are loved!
Learning someone’s Love Language is sacrificial like Christ.
He never asked anything in return.
He gave freely with no strings attached.
