The Making of a Miracle

I Corinthians 12:7-10 (NKJV)

7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all:

8 for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit,

9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit,

10 to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues.

The Working of Miracles

The First Miracle of Jesus

John 2:1-11 (NKJV)

1 On the third day there was a wedding in Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there.

2 Now both Jesus and His disciples were invited to the wedding.

3 And when they ran out of wine, the mother of Jesus said to Him, “They have no wine.”

4 Jesus said to her, “Woman, what does your concern have to do with Me? My hour has not yet come.”

5 His mother said to the servants, “Whatever He says to you, do it.”

6 Now there were set there six waterpots of stone, according to the manner of purification of the Jews, containing twenty or thirty gallons apiece.

7 Jesus said to them, “Fill the waterpots with water.” And they filled them up to the brim.

8 And He said to them, “Draw some out now, and take it to the master of the feast.” And they took it.

9 When the master of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and did not know where it came from (but the servants who had drawn the water knew), the master of the feast called the bridegroom.

10 And he said to him, “Every man at the beginning sets out the good wine, and when the guests have well drunk, then the inferior. You have kept the good wine until now!”

11 This beginning of signs Jesus did in Cana of Galilee, and manifested His glory; and His disciples believed in Him.

The Process

There is a Need!

John 2:3 (NKJV)

3 And when they ran out of wine, the mother of Jesus said to Him, “They have no wine.”

“They have no wine!”

One thing all miracles have in common is a need!

The greater the need, the greater the miracle!

Truth: If you have a need, you are a candidate for a miracle!

God wants to involve us!

John 2:7 (NKJV)

7 Jesus said to them, “Fill the waterpots with water.” And they filled them up to the brim.

“You fill the waterpots.”

Most of us want magic, not a miracle!

God wants to involve us.

God wants to use us.

God could do it by himself, but he wants to use us!

Without God I cannot

Without me God will not!

We give our all!

Matthew 14:17-18 (NKJV)

17 And they said to Him, “We have here only five loaves and two fish.”

18 He said, “Bring them here to Me.”

We give our all-in spite of the odds!

Boy:

  1. Had enough to take care of himself
  2. The request made no sense

In His hands, He will feed 5,000

In our hands only enough for us

I wonder how many miracles we have missed because we didn’t give.

John 2:9-10 (NKJV)

9 When the master of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and did not know where it came from (but the servants who had drawn the water knew), the master of the feast called the bridegroom.

10 And he said to him, “Every man at the beginning sets out the good wine, and when the guests have well drunk, then the inferior. You have kept the good wine until now!”

Obedience is never understood on the front end, only on the back end.
