A Plan for Prayer and Fasting

Habakkuk 2:1,2 (KJV)

1I will stand upon my watch, and set me upon the tower, and will watch to see what he will say unto me, and what I shall answer when I am reproved. 2And the Lord answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.

Write it down

Make it plain

Run with it

The Hour of Prayer

Acts 3:1 (NKJV)

1Now Peter and John went up together to the temple at the hour of prayer, the ninth hour.

I have been impressed concerning the phrase – The Hour of Prayer

The Pattern Established

Psalms 55:16, 17 (NKJV)

16As for me, I will call upon God, And the Lord shall save me. 17Evening and morning and at noon I will pray, and cry aloud, And He shall hear my voice.

Daniel 6:10 (NKJV)

10Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went home. And in his upper room, with his windows open toward Jerusalem, he knelt down on his knees three times that day, and prayed and gave thanks before his God, as was his custom since early days.

Facts:

Jewish Day

24 hours and divided into 12 hours

Called Day and Night

John 11:9 (NKJV)

9Jesus answered, “Are there not twelve hours in the day? If anyone walks in the day, he does not stumble, because he sees the light of this world.

9AM – 3rd Hour

Noon – 6th Hour

3PM – 9th Hour

The Pattern Emphasized

Pentecost (3rd Hour)

Acts 2:15 (NKJV)

15For these are not drunk, as you suppose, since it is only the third hour of the day.

Lame Man Healed (9th Hour)

Acts 3:1 (NKJV)

1Now Peter and John went up together to the temple at the hour of prayer, the ninth hour.

Peter’s Given a Vision at noon (6th Hour)

Acts 10:9 (NKJV)

9The next day, as they went on their journey and drew near the city, Peter went up on the housetop to pray, about the sixth hour.

Jesus Crucified at noon (6th Hour)

Luke 23:44 (NKJV)

44Now it was about the sixth hour, and there was darkness over all the earth until the ninth hour.

Something very significant about the hour

God is a God of Order
